Art
In our Elementary Art classroom, we strive to help every student reach their fullest creative
potential. We recognize that each child develops artistic skills at their own pace, and we believe
that consistent effort and a positive attitude lead to growth and success. Students will have the
opportunity to explore a variety of materials and artistic styles, expressing their individuality
through each project. Through hands-on experiences, they will learn to work confidently with
different art mediums, develop creative problem-solving skills, and create meaningful artwork
that fosters both artistic growth and joyful memories.
Benchmark 1: Students will conceptualize, organize, and refine artistic ideas through the
creation of original artwork.
Benchmark 2: Students will prepare artwork for presenting, refine artistic techniques and
work, and convey meaning through the presentation of artistic work.
Benchmark 3: Students will examine, interpret, and evaluate artistic work.
Benchmark 4: Students will relate personal experiences, societal, and cultural knowledge
to deepen understanding of artworks and to create original works of art.

“Students will read if we give them the books, the time, and the enthusiastic encouragement to do so. If we make them wait for the one unit a year in which they are allowed to choose their own books and become readers, they may never read at all. To keep our students reading, we have to let them.”

Music
Music
In our Elementary Music Class, students embark on an exciting journey into the world of music, where they explore rhythm, melody, and creative expression. Each class is designed to be engaging and hands-on, helping children build foundational skills in music through singing, movement, instrument play, and musical games. Our curriculum fosters a love for music while developing listening skills, teamwork, and confidence. From exploring different instruments to learning about diverse musical cultures, students gain a well-rounded introduction to the joys of music. We believe that every child can experience the thrill of making music and look forward to supporting their growth as young musicians.

Physical & Health Education
Physical & Health Education
At Stagecoach Elementary we teach and assess from our district curriculum map which is aligned to the Wyoming State Physical Education/Health standards... and we keep it FUN!
Standard #1 - Movement Proficiency- (Foundational Locomotor, Manipulative, and Body control skills) You might find a 1st grader learning how to point-step-throw a ball and a 3rd grader applying that skill within gameplay.
Standard #2 - Fitness (Students engage in a variety of fitness activities and learn/assess the 5 components of fitness)- We always invite parents to join us to run the Fitnessgram PACER test! Parents can even get on the leader wall! We celebrate all abilities and students strive to "PR" improving their score throughout the year.
Standard #3 - Personal and Social Responsibility (Teamwork, cooperation, and conflict resolution skills) -
You might find 2nd graders playing "Mario Kart" (WE keep things FUN!) working on taking fairturns, driver safety, and resolving road conflicts.
Come visit us in the health room and you might experience the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Grant in action, students get to try a new fruit/veggie weekly (some quite exotic, such as Dragon Fruit!) - While we teach and assess the state health standards via written common formal assessments for each grade level.
